مُقَدُّمُprominent الخِلْقَةِin build مَمْقُوتُهَاloathed for it
مُقَدُّمُ الخِلْقَةِ مَمْقُوتُهَا
ذُوpossessing صُوَرةِa form أَثْقَلُheavier مِنْthan رَضْوَىRaḍwā
ذُو صُوَرةِ أَثْقَلُ مِنْ رَضْوَى
Prominent in build, and loathed for it,
With a form heavier than Raḍwā.
أَصْبَحَhe has become لاَnot سُخْنَاًhot وَلاَand not بَارِدَاًcold
أَصْبَحَ لاَ سُخْنَاً وَلاَ بَارِدَاً
غَثَّاinsipid فَلاَso not مُرَّاًbitter وَلاَand not حُلْوَاsweet
غَثَّا فَلاَ مُرَّاً وَلاَ حُلْوَا
He has become neither hot nor cold,
Insipid, and so neither bitter nor sweet.
مُرَبَّعُsquare الجِسْمِin body صَفِيُّpure الحَشَاof heart
مُرَبَّعُ الجِسْمِ صَفِيُّ الحَشَا
لاَnot يَشْبَعُhe is sated الدَّهْرَever وَلاand not يرْوَىhis thirst is quenched
لاَ يَشْبَعُ الدَّهْرَ وَلا يرْوَى
Square-bodied, pure of heart,
He is never sated, nor is his thirst quenched.
كَأَنَّمَاas though قُدَّامَهُbefore him بَطْنُهُhis belly
كَأَنَّمَا قُدَّامَهُ بَطْنُهُ
رَاوِيَّةٌa waterskin قَدْalready نَقَضَتْhas worn out دَلْوَاa bucket
رَاوِيَّةٌ قَدْ نَقَضَتْ دَلْوَا
As though his belly, there before him,
Were a waterskin that has already worn out a bucket.
