My affliction at your loss grows

    graver whenever I restrain myself.

And I see my sorrow for

you greater today than it was yesterday.

So, in grieving for you, I remain at odds with

those who seek solace and comfort in others' example.

May you not be far away, my compassionate father,

though you have become a captive of the grave.

And may a downpour water your tomb,

pouring its rain morning and evening.

And indeed, my world was overtaken, after

you, by loneliness in place of companionship.

And I lived in the darkness of calamities,

and you had been my lamp and my sun.

And you left me a target for the arrows

of calamities, and you had been my shield.

So the fangs of the misfortunes

of time gained power to bite and gnaw at me.
