كثرّ الإحسانُ أعدا

كثرّ الإحسانُ أعدا

يَ فصبراً واحتِسَابَا

يَ فصبراً واحتِسَابَا

Kindness has multiplied my enemies;

Good deeds make many enemies

so patience, and the seeking of God's reward.

So I’m patient and act in hopes of reward

ما يعاديني إلاّ

ما يعاديني إلاّ

كلُّ مَنْ عادَى الصَّوابا

كلُّ مَنْ عادَى الصَّوابا

None bears me enmity except

None oppose me except

all who oppose what is right.

Those who oppose what's right

زَعَمُوا أن افْتِنَاني

زَعَمُوا أن افْتِنَاني

صار لي نقصاً وَعَابا

صار لي نقصاً وَعَابا

They claimed that my versatility

They claim my integrity

had become a failing and a blemish for me.

Has become my flaw and shame

زادني اللَّهُ من الحِكْ

زادني اللَّهُ من الحِكْ

مَةِ حظًّا واكْتِسابَا

مَةِ حظًّا واكْتِسابَا

God has increased for me, in wisdom,

But God has granted me

my share and my learning.
