فِيه وفي الباشِقِ شئٌ عَجيبْ
He passed by us with a sparrowhawk in his palm.
In his palm a falconer passed by
There is something wondrous in him and in the sparrowhawk.
In it and in the falconer something wondrous
ذاكthat one يَصِيدُhunts الطَّيَرَthe birds منfrom حالِقٍa lofty height
ذاك يَصِيدُ الطَّيَرَ من حالِقٍ
وذاand this one بعينيْهwith his two eyes يصيدُhunts القُلُوبَthe hearts
وذا بعينيْه يصيدُ القُلُوبَ
That one hunts birds from on high,
One traps birds from the heights
and this one, with his eyes, hunts hearts.
While the other with his eyes ensnares hearts
