My heart flew to Algeria in longing.

Then the flames seared it with their burning touch,

while it willingly sacrifices itself for the Aurès.

How could it accept living on after its loved ones?!

O sky of the Most Merciful, pour down upon her

what brings relief to homelands, west and east!

We are your loved ones, and in our hands

nothing remains but tears from the corners of our eyes.

In Palestine, many a loving supporter

still suffers in the occupier's chains.

Had they allowed him to come, he would have offered

his soul to the Aurès, in homage and love.

A free man is powerless to repay a kindness

while in captivity, choked by gloating.

Forgive us, as a mother forgives

a son who lacks the strength to help!
