O pillar of lofty honors, brother of virtue and generosity,

And O peer of letters, O intimate of verse,

And O generous soul, in whom good cheer awakens a thrill,

As blossoms sway in the breezes before dawn.

God bless you, bearer of Mudarite chivalry,

And guardian of honor, a dauntless raider in battle,

And one ever ready: in each lot-arrow he casts

Are the proud feats of sacrificial stones and the glories of lot-casters.

For in the reed of victory in the thick of battle

    Are advancing hosts of bold raiders and the banners of allies;

And in the reed of victory, in what he writes,

Are the melodies of strings and the splendor of books.

O pillar of lofty honors, the generous man is devoted

To his like among the good-hearted and the virtuous.

A benefactor's generosity has bestowed honor

Upon every gifted soul, in every arena.

So, O knight of the homelands, around whom gather

Clusters of friends and radiant nighttime companions,

Accept these sheaves of verse that I have fashioned

For your radiant gathering, as bouquets of flowers.
