From the Emirates, from the shores of Sharjah,

On the Gulf, a moon rose high.

It revolves in the orbit of letters; its axis is

The youth of Owais and his illustrious companions.

Dark-faced, they are lamps; made sweet by them

And by the unity they built is evening conversation.

They remember men of intellect, the finest among them,

So they live on through what they built and what they remembered.

And all we have—we who were remembered—is

Our greeting of peace to you, O moon.
