Umāmah, my wife, said while alone:

Indeed, hoped-for bounty now lies on lofty peaks.

I consulted my soul, and it said while alone:

Indeed, Ibn Daffāʿ is the generous man, despite hindrances.

How fine a young man where a sturdy she-camel's load is laid down,

The fire blazed for her between night and twilight.

And the disheveled young men, their packs grown light,

High-nosed, have journeyed on till late afternoon.

His honor is unblemished; he safeguards his trust,

So he does not betray it through weakness or deceit.

    فيها مِنَ اللَهِ صُنعٌ غَيرُ ذي خَلَلِ

    In an ancient heritage are honor and nobility;

Within it is God's handiwork, free from flaw.

Like an Indian sword whose striking edges cannot be bent

By studded mail upon an armored champion.
