خَيفانَةٌ يُلطَمُ الجاني بِلَطمَتِها

كَأَنَّها ظِلُّ بُردٍ بَينَ أَرياحِ

كَأَنَّها ظِلُّ بُردٍ بَينَ أَرياحِ

A slender, swift mare—the offender is struck by her slap—

Remorse is a slap that punishes the wrongdoer

As though she were a cloak’s shadow amid the winds.

As if it were a shade of coolness amid winds
