وَعادِيُّ مَجدٍ في أَشَمِّ رَفيعِ
His deeds adorn the days of Ibn Arwa,
The deeds of Ibn Arwa's son adorn his days
as does age-old glory in one proud and exalted.
And an enemy of glory in lofty summits
دَعَوتَyou called upon اِمرَأًa man ياO ضَبَّDabb غَيرَnot مُواكِلٍone who relies on others
دَعَوتَ اِمرَأً يا ضَبَّ غَيرَ مُواكِلٍ
فَلاso do not تَكفُروناyou show ingratitude to us بَعدَafter يَومِthe day of رَبيعِRabiʿ
فَلا تَكفُرونا بَعدَ يَومِ رَبيعِ
You called upon a man, O Dabb, who does not rely on others;
You called a man, O Jabba, who was not compliant
so do not be ungrateful to us after the day of Rabiʿ.
So do not blame us after the day of spring
وَإِنَّand indeed اِمرَأًa man جَدّاthe two grandsires of أَبيهِhis father وَأُمِّهِand his mother

And indeed a man whose father’s and mother’s grandsires
Indeed a very serious man, his father and mother
are ʿUtayba and al-Qaʿqaʿ is not lowborn.
Utaybah and Al-Qaqa are not insignificant
