إِلَيكَ إِلَيكَ يا جَعدَ بنَ قَيسٍ

إِلَيكَ إِلَيكَ يا جَعدَ بنَ قَيسٍ

فَإِنَّكَ لَستَ مِن أَبنا نِزارِ

فَإِنَّكَ لَستَ مِن أَبنا نِزارِ

Away with you, away with you, O Jaʿd son of Qays!

To you, to you O Ja'd son of Qais

For you are not among the sons of Nizār,

For you are not of the sons of Nizar

وَلَكِن مِن سُمارَةَ شَرِّ حَيٍّ

وَلَكِن مِن سُمارَةَ شَرِّ حَيٍّ

إِذا نَزَلوا المُضَيِّحَ مِن نُمارِ

إِذا نَزَلوا المُضَيِّحَ مِن نُمارِ

But of Sumārah, the worst of tribes,

But from Samarah, an evil tribe

When they encamp at al-Muḍayyiḥ of Numār.
