وما بالذي قد دان باللَه من عمى

وما بالذي قد دان باللَه من عمى

ولكنما حب السلامة يعميه

ولكنما حب السلامة يعميه

And there is no blindness in one who has believed in God;

What ails the one enslaved by God, to be so blind?

Rather, the love of safety blinds him.

Nay, but the love of safety blinds his mind.

ولا يتحرى المرء ديناً لنفسه

ولا يتحرى المرء ديناً لنفسه

ولكنه يأبى معارضة فيه

ولكنه يأبى معارضة فيه

And a man does not seek out a religion for himself,

A man picks not the faith himself believes,

Yet he rejects opposition to it.

But shuns whate'er that faith reprieves.
