وما المرء في محياه إلا كآلة

بأيدي الذي منه الضلالة والرشد

بأيدي الذي منه الضلالة والرشد

And man, in his life, is but like a machine,

Man in his life is but a game

In the hands of the One from whom come misguidance and right guidance.

In the hands of Him who leads to error and right.

فما يصنع العبد الذي ليس شائياً

فما يصنع العبد الذي ليس شائياً

إذا شاء رب العبد أن يكفر العبد

إذا شاء رب العبد أن يكفر العبد

So what can the servant, who has no will, do,

What can the servant do, who has no will,

If the servant’s Lord wills that the servant disbelieve?

If the Lord of servants desires the servant's unbelief?
