رَحَلَ الخَليطُ جِمالَهُم بِسَوادِ

رَحَلَ الخَليطُ جِمالَهُم بِسَوادِ

وَحَدا عَلى إِثرِ الحَبيبَةِ حادِ

وَحَدا عَلى إِثرِ الحَبيبَةِ حادِ

The company saddled their camels in the darkness,

The companions departed with their camels' beauty in the darkness

And a camel-driver chanted in the beloved’s wake.

Heading towards the trail of the beloved, wandering

ما إِن شَعَرتُ وَلا عَلِمتُ بَينَهُم

ما إِن شَعَرتُ وَلا عَلِمتُ بَينَهُم

حَتّى سَمِعتُ بِهِ الغُرابَ يُنادي

حَتّى سَمِعتُ بِهِ الغُرابَ يُنادي

I neither sensed nor knew of their departure

I did not notice or know anything between them

Until I heard the raven calling it out.

لَمّا رَأَيتُ البَينَ قُلتُ لِصاحِبي

لَمّا رَأَيتُ البَينَ قُلتُ لِصاحِبي

صَدَعَت مُصَدِّعَةُ القُلوبِ فُؤادي

صَدَعَت مُصَدِّعَةُ القُلوبِ فُؤادي

When I witnessed the parting, I said to my companion:

When I saw the separation, I said to my friend

The shatterer of hearts has shattered my heart.

The hearts' agony has cracked my heart

بانوا وَغودِرَ في الدِيارِ مُتَيَّمٌ

بانوا وَغودِرَ في الدِيارِ مُتَيَّمٌ

كَلِفٌ بِذِكرِكِ يا بُثَينَةُ صادِ

كَلِفٌ بِذِكرِكِ يا بُثَينَةُ صادِ

They departed, and one enslaved by love was left in the dwellings,

They left, while a yearner remained in the houses

Consumed by remembrance of you, O Buthayna, athirst.

Preoccupied with remembering you, O Buthaina, forever
