كَأَنَّ المُحِبَّ قَصيرُ الجُفونِ

كَأَنَّ المُحِبَّ قَصيرُ الجُفونِ

لِطولِ اللَيالي وَلَم تَقصُرِ

لِطولِ اللَيالي وَلَم تَقصُرِ

It is as though the lover’s eyelids were short,

It is as though the lover has little sleep

because the nights are long—though his eyelids have not grown short.

For the nights are long and do not shorten
