إِلَىَto أَرْضِland of الْكِنَانَةِKinana (the quiver) قَدْindeed أَتَيْتُI came
وَمِثْلَكِand your like يَاO كِنَانَةُKinana مَاnot رَأَيْتُI saw
I have indeed come to the land of Kinana.
To the land of Nile delta I came
And never have I seen your like, O Kinana.
And none like you Nile I've seen
وَكَمْand many a نَهْرٍriver قَصَدْتُI sought , فَمَاyet not رَوَانِيْquenched my thirst
فَعُدْتُso I returned لِمَاءِto the water of نِيْلِكِyour Nile فَارْتَوَيْتُand so I drank my fill
And many a river I sought, yet none quenched my thirst.
Many rivers I travelled, but none quenched my thirst
So I returned to the waters of your Nile and drank my fill.
So I returned to your water and got satisfied
وَنَقَّلْتُand I moved الْخُطَىَthe steps شَرْقاًeastward , وَغَرْباًand westward
فَكُنْتِand you were بِمُهْجَتِيْin my heart أَنَّىَwherever مَشَيْتُI walked
And I carried my steps eastward and westward.
I walked east and west
And you were in my heart wherever I walked.
With you in my heart wherever I went
