دَعَوتَyou called فأَقبَلتُso I came رَكضاًrunning إِلَيكَto you
دَعَوتَ فأَقبَلتُ رَكضاً إِلَيكَ
وَخالَفتُand I defied مَنthe one كُنتُI was فيat دَعوَتِهhis invitation
وَخالَفتُ مَن كُنتُ في دَعوَتِه
You called, so I came running to you.
I heard your call and hastened, running to you
And I defied the one whose guest I was.
Ignoring all others, though they implored me too
وَأَسرَعتُand I hastened نَحوَكَtoward you لَمّاwhen أَمَرتَyou commanded
وَأَسرَعتُ نَحوَكَ لَمّا أَمَرتَ
كَأَنّيas though I were نَوالُكَyour bounty فيin سُرعَتِهits swiftness
كَأَنّي نَوالُكَ في سُرعَتِه
And I hastened toward you when you commanded,
At your command I raced; my pace was swift
As though I were your bounty in its swiftness.
As if I were your steed in its swiftness
