أَنفِق وَلا تَخشَ إِقلالا فَقَد قُسِمَت

أَنفِق وَلا تَخشَ إِقلالا فَقَد قُسِمَت

بَينَ العِبادِ مَعَ الآجالِ أَرزاقُ

بَينَ العِبادِ مَعَ الآجالِ أَرزاقُ

Spend, and do not fear poverty, for allotted

Spend without fear of poverty, for providence

Among people, along with their lifespans, are their livelihoods.

Has apportioned sustenance among men together with their lives.

لا يَنفَعُ البُخلُ مَع دُنيا مُوَلِّيَةٍ

لا يَنفَعُ البُخلُ مَع دُنيا مُوَلِّيَةٍ

وَلا يَضُرُّ مَعَ الإِقبالِ إِنفاقُ

وَلا يَضُرُّ مَعَ الإِقبالِ إِنفاقُ

Stinginess is no help when the world turns away,

Stinginess is useless with a fleeting world,

Nor does spending do harm in times of prosperity.

And spending does no harm when fortune smiles.
