إِنَّindeed بِالحيرَةِin al-Hira قِسّاًa priest قَدalready مَجَنhe grew wanton
إِنَّ بِالحيرَةِ قِسّاً قَد مَجَن
فَتَنَhe tempted الرُهبانَthe monks فيهاin it وَاِفتَتَنand was himself tempted
فَتَنَ الرُهبانَ فيها وَاِفتَتَن
Indeed, in al-Hira there is a priest who has grown wanton.
He tempted the monks there and was himself tempted.
تَرَكَhe abandoned الإِنجيلَthe Gospel حيناًfor a time لِلصِباfor youthful pleasures
تَرَكَ الإِنجيلَ حيناً لِلصِبا
وَرَأىand he saw الدُنياthe world مُجوناًwanton revelry فَرَكَنso he yielded
وَرَأى الدُنيا مُجوناً فَرَكَن
He abandoned the Gospel for a time for youthful pleasures.
And he saw the world as revelry, so he yielded to it.
