لا شَكَّ فيهِ مِنَّ الدَيماسِ وَالأَسَدِ
Truly, the nights delivered me, and so have dealt kindly with me—
Indeed, the nights have carried me to safety—and so have been kind,
without a doubt—from the dungeon and the lion.
Beyond all doubt—from the dungeon and the lion.

They loosed me from the fetters, bringing me out
And freed me from the shackles, bringing me out
from the confines of a formidable prison, guarded by sentries.
From the precincts of a formidable prison kept under guard.

As though its dweller were alive, while his life's innermost spark
As though its inmate, with a last spark of life still in him,
were dead—the prison's poison coursing through the body.
Were a dead man through whose body poison had coursed.
