The nights of Mina were lost in love for a young gazelle.
My nights with Muna were lost in passionate love
Had he known my infatuation with him, he would not have acted rashly.

Until my heart opened up and yearned

لا يكذب القلب بث الحب إن خفقا
In its beating, a love-stricken soul finds no reassurance.
It flutters anxiously, fearing betrayal
The heart does not lie in declaring love when it beats.
The heart does not lie when it throbs with love

How lovely the dream, when it yielded to me before dawn!
How beautiful is the dream when magic yielded to me
And the birds chirped in the garden above the two lovers.
With birds chirping over the lovers in the garden

Of branches, with a roof of leaves above us.
Of branches and leaves sheltering us overhead

On our clothes by the garden branches, though wordless

Of youth's folly beneath night's wing, broke loose.
Youth plays with the wings of night and took off
