O Lord, You are all-hearing,

answering a servant who has called on You.

أنا في الحضيض ولكن

أنا في الحضيض ولكن

صوتي انتهى لعلاك

صوتي انتهى لعلاك

I am in the depths, and yet

my voice has reached Your heights.

ما دمت ربي نصيري

ما دمت ربي نصيري

فقوتي من قواك

فقوتي من قواك

As long as You, my Lord, are my helper,

my strength comes from Your might.

أدعوك يا رب عزماً

أدعوك يا رب عزماً

يطوي طريق هداك

يطوي طريق هداك

I call on You, O Lord, for resolve

that traverses the path of Your guidance.

وانشر علي سحاباً

وانشر علي سحاباً

مظللاً من رضاك

مظللاً من رضاك

And spread over me a cloud,

casting the shade of Your favor.

أغيب فيه بشخصي

أغيب فيه بشخصي

عن كل راءٍ سواك

عن كل راءٍ سواك

Within it I vanish bodily

from every beholder but You.

ما الناس إلا حسوداً

ما الناس إلا حسوداً

او صاحباً للهلاك

او صاحباً للهلاك

People are nothing but enviers

or companions in ruin.

يا رب أنت مجيري

يا رب أنت مجيري

فضمني في حماك

فضمني في حماك

O Lord, You are my protector;

so enfold me in Your sanctuary.

جسمي بسفلٍ وروحي

جسمي بسفلٍ وروحي

آفاقها في السماك

آفاقها في السماك

My body is down below, but my spirit

has its horizons at al-Simāk.

ففكَّ أغلال نفسي

ففكَّ أغلال نفسي

والعيدُ يومَ الفكاك

والعيدُ يومَ الفكاك

So undo the shackles of my soul;

and the day of release is the feast.

ووقني من رجيم

ووقني من رجيم

يهاءُ لي بالشباك

يهاءُ لي بالشباك

And protect me from an accursed one

who readies himself for me with nets.

إني غنى بفقري

إني غنى بفقري

ما دمت لي من غناك

ما دمت لي من غناك

Indeed, I am rich through my poverty,

so long as You are there for me with Your abundance.

هنا بدنياي مالٌ

هنا بدنياي مالٌ

وفتنةٌ وانتهاك

وفتنةٌ وانتهاك

Here in my earthly life are riches,

and temptation, and transgression.

فنسني الحظ منها

فنسني الحظ منها

وخل حظي هناك

وخل حظي هناك

So make me forget my share of it,

and leave my portion there.

هناك كل الأماني

هناك كل الأماني

دراك نفسي دراك

دراك نفسي دراك

There lie all hopes.

Rescue my soul—rescue it!

هناك عقلي وقلبي

هناك عقلي وقلبي

هناك إني أراك

هناك إني أراك

There are my mind and my heart.

There, indeed, I see You.

أهواك مولاي فاجعل

أهواك مولاي فاجعل

حبي وثيقً المساك

حبي وثيقً المساك

I love You, my Master, so make

my love firm in its hold.

كل الهوى فيه ذل

كل الهوى فيه ذل

والعز لي في هواك

والعز لي في هواك

All love contains humiliation,

yet my honor lies in loving You.
