My God, You are my provider.

So how am I to manage my sustenance?

For no one has died of hunger,

    Yet I encounter hardship.

So ease it, for You are able,

Even if I have not voiced my hope for it.

Shall I, abased, ask one like myself

For something, be it great or small?

And within me is a soul I reassure

That You are truly my sustainer.

And whoever is sustained by his Creator

Will live without misery for as long as he lives.

Perhaps life, because of a sin

The servant committed, has become wretched.

So forgive, my Lord, and pardon,

    Or grant Your servant release

From this world and those within it.

For they are drowned in its sea,

    And death is its shore,

And no one within it has remained alive.

    Every created being will perish,

And the Originator of creation will remain.

Woe to me for all that is upon this world,

And even the grave will not remain.
