ولرب طبع كامنٍ

للخير يظهر لو أثرنه

And many a dormant disposition

For within many a latent nature

toward goodness emerges if they stir it.

Lies goodness, could we but draw it forth.

هز الكرام بمدحهم

فالزهر ينفح إن عركته

Rouse the noble with praise of them,

When we extol the great, we move them,

for the blossom gives off fragrance if you rub it.

As perfume exhales when flowers are crushed.

وكذا الدواء يكون أنجع

وكذا الدواء يكون أنجع

عند شربك لو هززته

عند شربك لو هززته

And likewise, medicine is more effective

So medicine proves most potent

when you drink it, if you have shaken it.

When shaken well before we drink it.
