The sea that possesses me while I gently stroll, spellbound.

Nor did ascetic devotion bring me close to Sufism.

I relax in the breeze and daydreaming sights

Between the seas and sky in water and celestial sphere.

O summer stroll atop the quay, at

The city walls? The fortress gates?

The letter Noon? Or fish shaped like the letter Noon?

رفقٍ أسير وسحر البحر ممتلكي

A gentle pace I walk, and the sea's enchantment possesses me.

Alexandria, why would I blame for any reason

That after twenty years, I've entered your abode?
