الفَضلُ أَصبَحَ زائِلاً في إِثرِ مَن

الفَضلُ أَصبَحَ زائِلاً في إِثرِ مَن

جَلَّت مناقِبُه عن الأَشباهِ

جَلَّت مناقِبُه عن الأَشباهِ

Virtue has vanished in the wake of one

Virtue has faded away after one

Whose merits were beyond compare.

Whose eminent qualities put others to shame.

فَبكى الزَمانُ وقال فيه مؤرِّخا

فَبكى الزَمانُ وقال فيه مؤرِّخا

الفَضلُ زالَ بِفَقدِ عبدِ اللَهِ

الفَضلُ زالَ بِفَقدِ عبدِ اللَهِ

So Time wept and said of him, marking the date:

So time wept and chronicled about him,

“Virtue vanished with the loss of Abd Allah.”

“Virtue is gone with the loss of Abdullah.”
