قِفوا على بابيَ الكبيرِ

The Bureau of Egypt’s Endowments called out:

O my longing for Egypt’s Waqf Bureau’s director

Stand at my great gate,

Come to my door, oh friends

وَاِستَقبِلوا عندَهُ خليلاً

وَاِستَقبِلوا عندَهُ خليلاً

قد طال شوقي إلى مديرِ

قد طال شوقي إلى مديرِ

and welcome Khalil there.

And receive there a comrade

Long have I yearned for a director.

For long has been my yearning for the director

إن سَدَّ من حاجَتي فَأَهلاً

إن سَدَّ من حاجَتي فَأَهلاً

بهِ وَسهلاً مدى الدهور

بهِ وَسهلاً مدى الدهور

If he meets some of my need, then welcome

If he fulfills my need, welcome to him

to him, and a warm welcome for all time.
