عبّاسُ طِبتَ منابِتاً وَمَناقِباً

عبّاسُ طِبتَ منابِتاً وَمَناقِباً

وَبَلَغتَ شَأواً في العُلا لا يُلحَقُ

وَبَلَغتَ شَأواً في العُلا لا يُلحَقُ

Abbas, noble are your roots and virtues,

And you have reached a height of glory none can match.

كلُّ المَمالكِ نَوِّلَت ما تَرتَجي

كلُّ المَمالكِ نَوِّلَت ما تَرتَجي

من أنعُم الشورى وَمُلكُكَ مُطلَقُ

من أنعُم الشورى وَمُلكُكَ مُطلَقُ

All kingdoms have been granted what they hope for

Of the blessings of consultation, while your rule is absolute.

مُر بِالذي صَرَّحتَ قبلُ بهِ وَقُل

مُر بِالذي صَرَّحتَ قبلُ بهِ وَقُل

وَاِصدُق فَمِثلُكَ من يقولُ وَيَصدُقُ

وَاِصدُق فَمِثلُكَ من يقولُ وَيَصدُقُ

Decree what you declared openly before, and speak;

And be truthful, for one like you speaks and keeps his word.

عَوَّذتُ مجدَكَ بالكِنانَةِ أن يَرى

عَوَّذتُ مجدَكَ بالكِنانَةِ أن يَرى

آمالَ قَومكَ فيكَ لا تَتَحَقَّقُ

آمالَ قَومكَ فيكَ لا تَتَحَقَّقُ

I have prayed that your glory in al-Kinana be spared the sight

Of your people's hopes in you left unfulfilled.

كُن راعِياً يَرعى الأُسودَ فمن رَعى

كُن راعِياً يَرعى الأُسودَ فمن رَعى

غَنَماً يَبِت يَخشى الذِئابَ وَيَفرَقُ

غَنَماً يَبِت يَخشى الذِئابَ وَيَفرَقُ

Be a shepherd who tends lions, for whoever tends

Sheep spends the night fearing wolves and trembling.
