O Hind, restore our bond lest it be severed,

And keep close to a man passionately devoted to loving you, enamored.

If you offered us your coy charms just once,

We would seek nothing forbidden from you but your coy charms.

What prevented the visit was that all your family

Showed your visitors harshness and scowls.

What harm would it have done your family if a lover wandered

In your house's courtyard, or stopped by and offered a greeting?
