خَليلَيَّ جودا بِطَيفِ الكَرى

خَليلَيَّ جودا بِطَيفِ الكَرى

عَلى مُقلَتَيَّ وَبِطَيفِ الخَيالِ

عَلى مُقلَتَيَّ وَبِطَيفِ الخَيالِ

My two friends, bestow the phantom of slumber

My two friends, be generous with the phantom of memories

Upon my eyes, and the phantom of imagination.

Upon my eyelids and with the phantom of imagination

وَلا تَبخَلا بِكِتابٍ عَلى

وَلا تَبخَلا بِكِتابٍ عَلى

كَئيبٍ غَزَتهُ صُروفُ اللَيالي

كَئيبٍ غَزَتهُ صُروفُ اللَيالي

And do not begrudge a letter to

Do not be stingy with writing to

A sorrowful man assailed by the vicissitudes of nights.

A gloomy one swept by the nights

أَرى البُعدَ بَعدَكُما عاشِقي

أَرى البُعدَ بَعدَكُما عاشِقي

فَحَتّى مَتى قَلبُهُ غَيرَ سالِ

فَحَتّى مَتى قَلبُهُ غَيرَ سالِ

I see separation, in your absence, as my lover;

I see distance, after you two lovers

So how long will its heart remain unconsoled?

So when will his heart be consoled?

وَعِندي مِنَ الشَوقِ ما أَنتُما

وَعِندي مِنَ الشَوقِ ما أَنتُما

بِهِ تَعلَمانِ عَلى كُلِّ حالِ

بِهِ تَعلَمانِ عَلى كُلِّ حالِ

And within me is a longing that you both

And I have from longing what you two

Know of, in every circumstance.

Know, in any case

أُحِبُكُمُ مِثلَ عَيني اليَمينِ

أُحِبُكُمُ مِثلَ عَيني اليَمينِ

وَإِلا غَدَت مِثلَ عَيني الشِمالِ

وَإِلا غَدَت مِثلَ عَيني الشِمالِ

I love you as I love my right eye;

I love you like my right eye

And if not, may it become like my left eye.

Otherwise it becomes like my left eye
