وَكَيفَ يَرانِيَ الرُقَب

وَكَيفَ يَرانِيَ الرُقَب

اءُ مِن سُقمٍ بِجُثماني

اءُ مِن سُقمٍ بِجُثماني

And how can the watchers see me,

How can the watchers see in me

with sickness in my body?

A body sick and weak,

وَجِسمي مِثلُ ما يَحوي

وَجِسمي مِثلُ ما يَحوي

كَمَرّانِ الكَمَّراني

كَمَرّانِ الكَمَّراني

And my body is like what is held

When I'm as lithe and slim

in al-Kammarani’s two money-belts.

As vines that twist and creep.
