    By God, my father shall not have died in vain,

    Until I annihilate Malik and Kahil,

    The slayers of the mighty king,

    The best of Ma'add in lineage and bounty.

    Oh, Hind's anguish when they missed Kahil!

    We brought the full-grown, lean steeds,

    مُستَفرَماتٍ بِالحَصى جَوافِلا

    Bearing us and the thirsting spears,

    With gravel packed in their vulvas, bolting in fright;

    . . . . . . . . . . . . .

    The hindmost startle the foremost into flight.
