Tell Abu Ya'qub that the one

he knows has committed a sin.

كان محباً لك فيما مضى

فالآن قد صادق محبوبا

He was your lover in days gone by;

He used to love you in the past

now he has befriended a beloved.

يركب هذا ذا وذا ذا فما

ينفك تصعيداً وتصويبا

This one mounts that one, and that one this one; he never

He rides this, that and the other, never

ceases rising and descending.

I see horns that have covered him,

Set up over two nations like a landmark

أظنه يعجز عن حملها

اذ ركبت في الرأس تركيبا

يا رحمتا لابني على ضعفه
