Sons of Hashim, between death and you

Lies a legacy; death never slumbers heedless of a blood debt.

It carried off Abu al-Ashbal—the Father of Lion Cubs—as he called battle to witness,

And his banners in battle stood against treacherous states.

Nor did it turn aside from Shakir after Faisal,

And it struck Ali down, with burning anguish in the breast.

The courts of kings, whose suns set,

And heroes' raids, turned back from victory.

Sons of Hashim, may your embers never be quenched,

Nor your swords sheathed by the calamities of time.

Before your faces, the pitch-black night disperses,

And before your right hands, the rain-laden cloud scatters.

And a nation's hopes were bound to Abdullah,

And in Ghazi's shade, its radiant days return.
