Indeed, my heart belongs to my homeland,

I have not sold it to a brother

or to a close friend of mine.

Or an intimate friend

ليس مني لو أراه

مرَّةً غيرَ سليم

مرَّةً غيرَ سليم

It is no part of me if I see it

If I saw it as anything but sound

even once unsound.

It would not be mine

ولساني كفؤادي

ولساني كفؤادي

نيطَ منه بالصَّميم

نيطَ منه بالصَّميم

And my tongue, like my heart,

And my tongue is like my heart

is bound to its very core.

Bound to the core

وغدي يُشبه يومي

وحديثي كقديمي

And my tomorrow resembles my today,

My today resembles my yesterday

and my present is like my past.

And my talk like my olden ways

لم أَهبْ غيظَ كريم

لا ولا كيْدَ لئيم

I have not feared a nobleman's wrath,

I gave no vent to noble wrath

no, nor a scoundrel's scheming.

Nor mean intrigues

غايتي خدمةُ قومي

غايتي خدمةُ قومي

بشقائي أو نعيمي

بشقائي أو نعيمي

My aim is to serve my people,

My sole aim is serving my nation

in my suffering or my bliss.

In my misery or comfort
