The steed of my poems stumbled upon the fierce lion,
My poetry overflowed about the vicious lion
who vaunts his fangs and rends with claws.
Biting with fangs and clawing with nails

Fate has run its course, inevitable
and can any decree prevail over the decree that runs its course?
Can any running fate overcome fate's course?

O dwelling of the sanctuary, your age has wronged you: plead humbly!
Turn the fever that raged your epoch to prayer
The neighbor's refuge has resolved to depart from you.
The visiting fever is about to depart from you

Before today your night was blissful

Yesterday my time in your garden was perfect
resplendent with blossoms beneath the rain of the downpour's brother.
Facing my breeze-stirred brother blooming with flowers

Rayy and Iraq wept in sorrow for a raincloud [opening text uncertain],
Mourning came early and Iraq for a companion
that dispersed, slaking thirst—nay, giving sparks to a honey-gatherer.
Pouring copious, abundant tears for the chosen one

Indeed, al-Safa, the two Marwas, and Tayba
Virtue, ethics, and goodness have joined him
donned, in sorrow for him, robes of pitch.

Muhammad—kindled it, and you are the fire's radiance.
