ذنوباً بعضها خطرٌ جسيم

Commander of the Faithful, to you I complain

O Commander of the Faithful, to you I complain

Of sins, some of which are a grave peril.

Of sins, some of which are grave indeed

شكوت ظلامتي ولرب شاكٍ

شكوت ظلامتي ولرب شاكٍ

ظلامة نفسه وهو الظلوم

ظلامة نفسه وهو الظلوم

I have voiced my grievance; yet many a man complains

I complain of my darkness to the Lord though I am to blame

Of wrong done to himself, though he is the wrongdoer.

For the darkness of my soul, and He is never unjust
