    He has not died whose memory praise keeps alive,

    And his right hand has attained all his desires.

    Like the lord, the esteemed Pasha, whose

    Name's fragrance offers the scent of its meaning.

    A king who, when kings are counted, is none other than

    A righteous man, surpassing all in his piety.

    More tender toward the weak than toward a child of his own heart,

    And his mercy more beneficent than their own souls.

    فالهرج ما ناب الورى برجاه

    And he was the one who spread joy with his right hand;

    So turmoil did not befall the people in his domain.

    Glory to Him who gathered perfection in a single man,

    Whom none matched in that but his two sons.

    فابناه في فَلَكِ الحياة سناه

    Then, like the sun, his disk vanished, but not his radiance;

    For his two sons are his radiance in life's celestial sphere.

    Say to those who shed the blood of their eyes:

    Do you grieve for one whose eyes have found delight?

    He has passed on only to abundant good,

    So he sees the reward for what his hands sent ahead.

    And so, in good hope, I said, marking the date:

    Salutation and peace were his welcome feast.
