أجل يعلم الحبُّ أني لظاهُ

لعابدةٍ للسنا عن كثب

And how far apart are radiance and darkness

And there is a huge difference between brilliance and darkness

For one who worships radiance at close quarters!

For a worshipper of brilliance from up close

وفي صدرها لهفة للعناق

وفي صدرها لهفة للعناق

وفي قلبها جنةُ المغترب

وفي قلبها جنةُ المغترب

And in her breast is a longing for an embrace,

And in her chest is a longing for embrace

And in her heart, the exile's paradise.

And in her heart is an expatriate's paradise

يلوح لها شبحٌ للعذاب

يلوح لها شبحٌ للعذاب

ويبدو لها الأبد المقترب

ويبدو لها الأبد المقترب

A specter of torment looms before her,

An illusion of torment appears to her

And eternity appears to her, drawing near.

And eternity seems to be approaching her

كأن اللظى قدحٌ من سلافٍ

كأن اللظى قدحٌ من سلافٍ

لها فوقه وثباتُ الحبب

لها فوقه وثباتُ الحبب

As though the blaze were a cup of choice wine,

As if the flames were a drink from wine

Its bubbles leaping above the cup.

With embers jumping over it

فراشة روحي تعالي وثُوباً

فراشة روحي تعالي وثُوباً

ستلقين قلباً إليكِ يثب

ستلقين قلباً إليكِ يثب

Butterfly of my soul, come leaping!

Butterfly of my soul come to me

You will find a heart that leaps toward you.

You will find a heart that leaps to you

إذا ما امتزجنا احترقنا معاً

إذا ما امتزجنا احترقنا معاً

ونلنا الخلود بهذا العطَب

ونلنا الخلود بهذا العطَب

When we mingle, we shall burn together,
