The days have grown sweet through you—oh, what joy!
The days have been blessed by you and made joyful,
You are hope, riches, and life.
You are my wishes, riches, and life,

So let the night depart; we have forgiven it,
Let the night go away, we forgive it,
So long as this morning is the outcome of its darkness.
As long as this morning, following its darkness, shines,

O you who slept, while dawn from your dwelling
O you who slept while dawn rose from your abode,
Spread its fairest radiance across the horizons.
Radiantly beaming its brilliant glory on the horizons,

A weary youth has knocked at the door.
A weary youth knocked on the door,
The journey stretched on for him, and his steps grew weary.
Long has been his journey and numerous his steps,

He kept his feet wandering through the days,
Moving his feet through the days,
Seeking a vision that leans within his hopes.
Seeking a lovely phantom in his dreams,

With you he has set down the baggage of his hopes,
At you he laid down his travel bags of wishes,
And in the sanctuary of your beauty he laid down his staff.
And in the heat of your beauty cast away his staff,

How often night grew still and slumber settled,
How quiet the night and hushed the stars,
Save for a sleepless man singing his sorrow.
Except for a love-sick nightingale singing his sorrows,
ناداكhe called to you منfrom أقصىthe farthest الربىthe hills فاسمعيso listen

He called to you from the farthest hills—so listen
He called you from the furthest land, so listen,
To him whose call has endured throughout the nights.
To him who through the long nights cried your name,

He called to a beloved who slept, heedless of his sorrow.
He called a beloved, asleep to his passions,
Sweet is his cruelty; his fruit is hard to attain.
Sweet, picked by one noble, and carefully guarded,
أحبّكِhe loved you الحبlove وغنىand sang بهof it
عفَّchaste الأمانيhopes والهوىand passion والشفاهand lips
He loved you and sang of that love,
I loved you with love, and sang of it,
Chaste in his hopes, his passion, and his lips.
The wishes, the passion, and the lips were released,

And love is but the discourse of the heights,
For love is but the secret of the sublime,
The song of eternity—and we are its narrators.
An eternal hymn, and we its chanters.
