Do you see how she walked slowly,

And took her time? For she walks backward.

أترى هذا الذَى ساومَهَا

أترى هذا الذَى ساومَهَا

لا يبالي ما الذي قالَ الورَى

لا يبالي ما الذي قالَ الورَى

Do you see this man who bargained with her?

He cares nothing for what people have said.

عصبت شهوتُه أعينَه

عصبت شهوتُه أعينَه

فَهوَ بالشهوةِ أعمى لا يرى

فَهوَ بالشهوةِ أعمى لا يرى

His lust has blindfolded his eyes,

So he is blind with lust; he does not see.

نسوةٌ معدنُهَا هذا الثرى

نسوةٌ معدنُهَا هذا الثرى

هُنَّ دوماً لاصقاتٌ بالثرَى

هُنَّ دوماً لاصقاتٌ بالثرَى

Women whose substance is this earth—

They cling forever to the earth.
