    My kind, free, illustrious minister,

Accept it—a love unfettered and noble.

It stands firm in the face of calamities, untroubled,

And refuses to bend amid adversities.

And time knows no change in it,

And hypocrisy knows no path to it.

Over lofty literature and those who seek it,

You have spread goodness and sheltering shade.

And those who praise you bestow no favor on you,

For we have come to repay your kindness.

    فعذراً أن قطفت لك القليلا

    I plucked for you the rhymes, the necklace of my verse;

So pardon me for plucking so little for you.

I wished to lengthen my verses for you,

But your modesty prevents me from prolonging them.

    My kind, free, illustrious minister,

I stand here as an envoy on my companions' behalf.

I repeat to you what my heart holds,

And I take pride in repeating it and speaking.

I say to one who knows not the meaning of greatness:

How long will one who does not know you remain ignorant?

Desouki, it was not the ministry that brought us together,

Nor did it serve as proof of a bond.

    تقبله هوى حرا نبيلا

    We loved the character and virtue in you;

Accept it—a love unfettered and noble.
