I loved Mayya with a love unmatched

By any love, and for her I spent my whole life.

أُحبُّ عمري الذي في قرب ميَّ وما

قد مرَّ من دونها ما كان أضيعه

I love my life spent near Mayy; and what

I love the life that is spent near Mayya

Has passed without her—how wasted it was!

And I regret whatever of it passed without her

With all the love the All-Merciful has placed within him.
