I knew what you conceal with the insight of one inspired,

when the mute tear did not speak.

And you are a sky whose light one adores,

and adores whatever gloom lies on its horizon.

And I, when your eyes grow clouded with tears,

deserve to have my mouth walk upon their lashes.

Let me soar as a bird in your sky,

and let my imagination swim in your exalted radiance.

    له أينَما يسرِي تفضُّلُ مُنعِمِ

    Behold, the full moon's light is indeed a benefactor's kindness;

wherever it journeys by night, it has a giver's grace.

It bears that light through what is fresh and smiling,

and spreads it through what is worn and crumbling.

And oh, at times it visits the grove, laughing,

so it dreams in a mysterious air of enchantment.

And it spreads among the ruins a shadow, as though it were

the phantom of wishes in sleepers' eyes.
