Does she push me away, though she has broken my wing,

Do you push me away though my wings are folded

And pull me back, though she has tightened my bonds?

And pull me though my ties are drawn

خرجت من الديار أجر همي

خرجت من الديار أجر همي

وعدت إلى الديار أجر ساقي

وعدت إلى الديار أجر ساقي

I left the homeland, dragging my sorrow,

I left my home though it pained me

And returned to the homeland, dragging my leg.

And returned though my legs protested
