إن أكن مذنباً فحظيَ أخطأتُ

إن أكن مذنباً فحظيَ أخطأتُ

فدع عنكَ كثرةَ التأنيب

فدع عنكَ كثرةَ التأنيب

If I am guilty, then I have missed my own good fortune.

If I have sinned, then it was my fate that erred

So leave off excessive reproach.

So cease your constant chiding of reproach

قل كما قال يوسفٌ لبني

قل كما قال يوسفٌ لبني

يعقوبَ لما رأوه لا تثريب

يعقوبَ لما رأوه لا تثريب

Say, as Joseph said to the sons

Say as Joseph said unto his brothers

of Jacob when they saw him: “No reproach.”

When they faced him, “Do not blame or encroach”
