فَلا عَفا اللَهُ عَن مَروانَ مَظلُمَةً

فَلا عَفا اللَهُ عَن مَروانَ مَظلُمَةً

وَلا أُميَّةَ بِئسَ المَجلِس النادي

وَلا أُميَّةَ بِئسَ المَجلِس النادي

So may God not pardon Marwan for any wrong,

So Allah did not forgive Marwan's injustice,

Nor Umayya—how wretched the assembled council!

Nor the Umayyads - evil is the assembly of the club.

كانوا كَعادٍ فَأَمسى اللَهُ أَهلَكَهُم

كانوا كَعادٍ فَأَمسى اللَهُ أَهلَكَهُم

بِمِثلِ ما أَهلَكَ الغاوينَ مِن عادِ

بِمِثلِ ما أَهلَكَ الغاوينَ مِن عادِ

They were like ‘Ad, so by evening God had destroyed them,

They were like Aad, so Allah destroyed them,

Just as He destroyed the misguided among ‘Ad.

With the like of what He destroyed the deviators of Aad.

فَلَن يُكّذِبُني مِن هاشِمٍ أَحَدٌ

فَلَن يُكّذِبُني مِن هاشِمٍ أَحَدٌ

فيما أَقولُ وَلَو أَكثَرتُ تَعدّادي

فيما أَقولُ وَلَو أَكثَرتُ تَعدّادي

So none of Hashim will call me a liar

So no one from Hashim will belie me

In what I say, even if I recount at length.

In what I say, even if I enumerate extensively.
