وَلا بِالَّذي يَدعو أَباً لا يُجيبُهُ

وَلا بِالَّذي يَدعو أَباً لا يُجيبُهُ

كَساقِ ابنِ حُرٍّ وَالحَمامِ المطوّقِ

كَساقِ ابنِ حُرٍّ وَالحَمامِ المطوّقِ

Nor like one who calls to a father who does not answer him,

Nor one who calls unanswered to his sire,

Like Sāq ibn Ḥurr and the collared doves.

Like legs of freeman's son, and ringdoves' throat.
