فيin حاضِرٍa settlement لَجِبٍclamorous بِاللَيلِby night سامِرُهُits nighttime company
في حاضِرٍ لَجِبٍ بِاللَيلِ سامِرُهُ
فيهِin it الصَواهِلُthe neighing steeds وَالراياتُand the banners وَالعُكَرُand the camel herds
فيهِ الصَواهِلُ وَالراياتُ وَالعُكَرُ
In a settlement whose company clamors by night,
Within it are neighing steeds, banners, and herds of camels,
وَخُرَّدٌand bashful maidens كالمَهاlike oryx حُورٌbright-white-eyed with dark pupils مَدامِعُهاtheir eyes
وَخُرَّدٌ كالمَها حُورٌ مَدامِعُها
كَأَنَّهاas though they were بَينَamong كُثبانِdunes of النَقاthe sands بَقَرُwild cattle
كَأَنَّها بَينَ كُثبانِ النَقا بَقَرُ
And bashful maidens like oryx, their eyes bright white and deep black,
As though they were wild cattle among the sandy dunes.
