How many a good brother, a paternal uncle, and a maternal uncle,
How many a good brother, uncle, and cousin
And a paternal cousin, like a sharpened sword,
And nephew like a sharpened sword

Has death carried away from us, leaving him
Whom death has distanced from us and so
Bones beneath burial niches and clay,
Became greatest beneath slabs and clay

A captive of a grave, in open ground or on a rocky ridge!
A pledge at Ramess or Buhera
O people, come to the aid of the buried dead!
Oh people for the buried dead
